Marathon Training, Week 9: Me and My Pre-Schooler Immune System

I'm like a walking zombie again . . . on a course of antibiotics. Not that you need to know, but I've been peeing nonstop. Today I figured out the reason I haven't slept well lately. And it's not because of nerves, but because I have a UTI. I wake up in the middle of the night to pee, every 1-3 hours.

Yes, I know - I have the immune system of a pre-schooler.

I get my thyroid ultrasound and bloodwork on Monday and see the endo on 12/31, so if there is an autoimmune disorder (or something else we won't talk about right now), I'll know then and it will shed some light on my constant battle with malaise. I still feel very confident and positive about it.

What I don't feel confident and positive about is my training, which continues to suffer because of my immune system (or lack thereof). Obviously, I'm not training with an infection - spinning hurts, swimming is bad, and running makes me have to pee more. Besides, the way MY body is, I'll end up making myself even sicker. And I know I can DO the marathon and WILL get training in, but it's not even HALF of the training I want so that I don't feel dead after the race.

Well, I'm off to finish up for the day and go home to consume massive amounts of fluids and sleep.

2 tidbits of wizdom:

Man, I hope you are feeling better soon and that they figure things out soon, so you don't have to spend so much time sick.

You rock! Don't worry about being fast. Fast is boring. Us adorable round chicks getting done and making the crowd laugh, WE are interesting! ;o)

Congrats on finishing the semester. Are you taking next semester off?
